A Dhaka court on Tuesday set March 9 for hearing a subversion case to indict 41 BNP members, including the party’s acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Judge Ali Masud Sheikh of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court was scheduled to hear the case on Tuesday but deferred the hearing in response to a petition.
The petition was filed by Fakhrul’s lawyer Joynul Abedin Mejbah, who said his client failed to appear in court for being engaged in the December 30 municipal election affairs.
The case was lodged by Ramna Police Station sub-inspector Ali Hossain in connection with vandalising and setting fire to vehicles in front of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College on March 2, 2013.
On July 5 last year, Detective Branch inspector Dipak Kumar Das submitted the charge sheet, accusing 41 BNP members.
