Police in Chittagong said they have arrested three members of Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) with huge amount of explosives and ammunitions after busting a hideout of the banned militant outfit in Hathajari area of the district on early Sunday.
The detainees were Russell, 25, Noyan, 24, and Faysal, 26.
Babul Akter, additional deputy commissioner (detective branch) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), told thereport24.com detectives surrounded the 2-storied house ‘Hajji Ishak Mansion’ in Amanbazar of Hathajari area on Saturday night and conducted a raid there from 12:00am to 05:00am on Sunday.
The hideout was used Fardiin alias Pias, JMB regional commander in Chittagong, according to this police officials.
Police also seized a MK-11 sniper, 190 rounds of bullets, 14 uniforms of lawpersons, different bomb making substances including 2 kilogram water-gel explosive, 10 detonators, and organizational books and official documents of JMB.
Babul said JMB was planning to carry out big-size destruction in the city.
The detained trio was taken to the detectives’ headquarters and underwent interrogation there, said the police officials.
