Red Bull boss wants F1 rules 'rejig'

Formula 1 needs rule changes to make it less predictable, says Red Bull team principal Christian Horner. Lewis Hamilton won the 2014 and 2015 world drivers' championships from Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg. Mercedes won the constructors' title in both years, finishing first in 32 out of 38 races and completing 23 one-twos. "People get turned off with predictability. It needs a rejig to bring it closer together," Horner told Autosport. The Red Bull boss said it was up to the sport's senior officials, including commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone and FIA president Jean Todt, to find a solution. "The regulations are incredibly stable for next year, so Mercedes will inevitably carry on the dominance, such is their margin," he added. Horner believes the situation is different to when Red Bull won four successive constructors' championships and Sebastian Vettel the same number of drivers' titles from 2010 to 2013. "Two of our world championships went to the last race, and we never finished first and second in a championship," he said.

Lewis Hamilton: My relationship with Nico is 'sweet'

His sometimes volatile working relationship with Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg continues to make headlines -- but Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton insists that everything is "sweet" between the pair. Hamilton, whose team boss Toto Wolff had warned that one of the two drivers could go if relations did not improve, said "only positives" lay ahead "for Mercedes and us." Speaking earlier this month, Wolff said: "The guy in the other car cannot be your friend. "But we need to be careful that it doesn't spill over on both sides of the garage. We have seen at teams in the past that there is a competition that has been created that is not good for the dynamics within the team, and this is what I try to re-emphasize. I will have a close look at it."

The end Formula 1 television contract early

Sport is to "reluctantly" end its Formula 1 television contract three years early as part of savings across the corporation. Channel 4 will take on the F1 broadcast rights from next season. "The current financial position of the means some tough and unwanted choices have to be made," said Barbara Slater, thedirector of sport. However,Radio 5 live has extended its commentary rights for F1 until the 2021 season. Sport broadcast 10 live races of Briton Lewis Hamilton's world championship-winning season in 2015 with a one-hour build-up to each grand prix. It also offered extensive highlights of the nine other races. But as part of a £150m gap in the corporation's finances from next year, Sport was asked to deliver £35m of savings. "A significant chunk of Sport's savings target will be delivered through the immediate termination of our TV rights agreement for Formula 1," added Slater. "Any decision to have to stop broadcasting a particular sport or sporting event is hugely disappointing and taken reluctantly. "There are no easy solutions; all of the options available would be unpopular with audiences." Sport regained F1 rights from ITV in 2009 but - in another cost-saving move - had been sharing the broadcast rights with Sky Sports since the 2012 season. "These are very challenging times for the and sport is not immune to those financial pressures," added Slater.

Sebastian Vettel aiming for fifth title in 2016

Sebastian Vettel chats to F1's, as he looks back on a successful first season at Ferrari, and whether he can win a fifth drivers' title next year. After a difficult 2014 with Red Bull the four-time world champion left the team to replace Fernando Alonso at Ferrari - and has had a strong 2015 with three wins so far. Vettel also gives his view on the rivalry between Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, saying it is not as "intense" as his own rivalry with Mark Webber at Red Bull. Nico Rosberg unsure how he beat Lewis Hamilton in late 2015 run

Nico Rosberg says he does not know how he managed to turn the tables on Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton and end the season with a run of success. Hamilton won the title with three races to go, all of which Rosberg then won. Rosberg said: "Qualifying, he did a better job - up to the point he won the title it was 12-three or something. "That was my strength last year. Strange it turned around. Tough to understand it. I don't know exactly why; I just need to keep it going." Hamilton won the title in 2014 despite qualifying behind his team-mate more often than not, passing Rosberg on track a number of times to take 11 wins to the German's five.

Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes switch emotional - Jenson Button

Lewis Hamilton's decision to join Mercedes was "emotional" and not based on knowledge of the team's potential, according to Jenson Button. Hamilton decided to join Mercedes after the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix, in which he had to retire from the lead. His then McLaren team-mate Button said: "Lewis is one of the quickest guys ever in an F1 car but he did not know [they would be so quick] when he signed. "We're all emotional, he took it emotionally, but it has paid off." Hamilton, who has won the past two titles, has always insisted the decision was based on Mercedes' plans for the future, after several weeks of persuasion from then team boss Ross Brawn and non-executive chairman Niki Lauda.

Ferrari can beat Mercedes - James Allison

Ferrari have a "realistic" chance of mounting a serious title challenge to Mercedes in 2016, according to technical director James Allison. Sebastian Vettel finished third in this year's championship, winning three races to champion Lewis Hamilton's 10. Allison said: "If we do everything we intend, we have a realistic chance next year will be a classic year for F1 - and for Ferrari I hope even stronger. "But saying it is easy and doing it is a lot, lot harder."
