Motorhead frontman Lemmy has died aged 70, two days after learning he had cancer, the British band has announced. Lemmy formed the rock group in 1975 and recorded 22 albums, including Ace of Spades, as he became one of music's most recognisable voices and faces. The band said on its Facebook page: "Our mighty, noble friend Lemmy has passed away after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer." Lemmy was born Ian Fraser Kilmister in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, in 1945. He acquired the nickname Lemmy while at school, although he claimed to have had no idea where it came from. UK Muslims with Disneyland plans: We were barred from plane due to religion

A Muslim man in London says his family was barred because of their religion from boarding a plane bound for Los Angeles, where they planned to visit Disneyland with their children. On December 15, the extended family waited at the gate. Their bags were on the plane. The family included Mohammad Tariq Mahmood with two of his children; his brother Zahid and sister-in-law Sadaf, with five of their children; and two nieces who were accompanying them. While they waited to board the plane, Mohammad Mahmood was called on the intercom and told that at least some of the family would not be allowed to board. They were not given a reason for the ban, according to Mahmood. Their bags were removed from the plane, and they were ordered to return all the duty-free goods they had purchased, and then escorted from the airport. A U.S. official on Wednesday told  that not all family members were prevented from traveling, but did not specify who would have been permitted to travel. A British MP alerted the media to the story Wednesday after speaking with Mahmood. Mahmood told  Wednesday that the kids were devastated. "They had big tears in their eyes," he said.

'I was close to being killed so many times'

On the tough streets of Compton in the late 1980s, a crowd of school children looked on as an imposing middle-aged man berated two young black girls. The city, in Los Angeles County, was riven with internecine gang warfare at the time, and verbal conflict could quickly escalate to violence. Yet the man doing the shouting, and the girls on the receiving end of his invective, were not acting out one of Compton's then common tragic scenes. For a start, the schoolkids had been bused in specifically to witness the event at the local tennis courts.

Laura Robson has 'no intention of quitting' as recovery progresses

Laura Robson says she is pleased with her recovery from a wrist injury and has no intention of quitting tennis. The 21-year-old has played in eight events since returning from a 17-month lay-off in June, and had to end her season early after suffering a relapse. She played in an exhibition in Los Angeles last weekend and is planning to return to the WTA Tour in the new year. "It's going to be a long way back. But if I didn't want to do it I would have quit a long time ago," she said. "I'm very happy with the progress that's been made.
